The Serreponçon Lake
A huge project : This artificial lake has been created in order to canalize the Durance river. The french electricity company EDF started the construction in 1955 and it lasted 54 months to create the bigger earth hydraulic dam in Europe.
It took 18 months to fill in the lake !
With 80 kms's shores and 3000 hectares, the lake is a big place for tourists and sporting activities : Sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, tubing, rowing, canoë kayaking, fishing, cruising boat with commentaries, swimming and farniente ... There is something to suit all tastes !
The Embrun's plan d'eau
At 10 minutes by foot from the campsite, this small lake is protected and separated from the lake by a dyke.
