Nestled in a preserved environment between lakes and mountains, Le Petit Liou, a campsite in the Hautes-Alpes, attracts nature lovers, swimmers, and outdoor enthusiasts. Just a few minutes’ walk or bike ride from the lake shores and the water body, our campsite, close to Embrun leisure center and Lake Serre-Ponçon, offers easy access to a multitude of water activities, sports activities, and family activities, in one of the most beautiful natural settings of the Hautes-Alpes.

A gigantic project: originally created to regulate the flow of the Durance, construction was started by EDF in 1955 and lasted 54 months to create the largest earth dam in Europe. Filling it took no more than… 18 months!
Lake Serre-Ponçon now stretches over 3,000 hectares at an altitude of 780 m. With its 80 km of shoreline and turquoise waters, it has become a prime destination for water sports and family recreation. You can enjoy sailing, canoeing-kayaking, rowing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, towed tubing, or even embark on a boat cruise. Not to mention swimming in clear, well-monitored waters, and fishing for the more patient. A multifaceted place, offering both adventure and relaxation, just a stone’s throw from your accommodation!
Embrun water body: beaches and leisure center just a short bike ride from the campsite!
Less than a 10-minute bike ride away, the Embrun water body welcomes you for a fun-filled day. You’ll find equipped beaches perfect for families, a dynamic leisure center with mini-golf, a pumptrack, a huge aquapark, pedal boats, kayaks, sailing, rowing, a carousel, children’s games, snack bars and restaurants, shops, and even a municipal swimming pool with a water slide. All in an exceptional natural setting, surrounded by the Alpine mountains. Ideal for enjoying a sunbath while the children play, or for trying new activities safely.
Walk on the Lake Serre-Ponçon dam near the campsite
For a gentle activity accessible to all, don’t miss the walk on the dam that separates the lake from the water body, just a 10-minute walk from the campsite. This safe path separates the lake from the protected Embrun water body, and offers a magnificent view of the Southern Alps. Whether on foot, by bike, or by scooter, it’s the perfect place for an outdoor stroll, a photo break, or simply to admire the sunset over the water. A small daily pleasure awaiting you at our campsite, close to Embrun leisure center and Lake Serre-Ponçon, surrounded by nature.
