Water activities <\/strong>at Lake Serre-Pon\u00e7on near the campsite<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A gigantic project: originally created to regulate the flow of the Durance, construction was started by EDF in 1955 and lasted 54 months to create the largest earth dam in Europe<\/strong>. Filling it took no more than\u2026 18 months! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lake Serre-Pon\u00e7on now stretches over 3,000 hectares<\/strong> at an altitude of 780 m<\/strong>. With its 80 km of shoreline<\/strong> and turquoise waters<\/strong>, it has become a prime destination for water sports<\/strong> and family recreation<\/strong>. You can enjoy sailing, canoeing-kayaking, rowing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, towed tubing, or even embark on a boat cruise. Not to mention swimming<\/strong> in clear, well-monitored waters, and fishing<\/strong> for the more patient. For a gentle activity accessible to all, don’t miss the walk on the dam<\/strong> that separates the lake from the water body, just a 10-minute walk from the campsite. This safe path<\/strong> separates the lake from the protected Embrun water body, and offers a magnificent view of the Southern Alps. Whether on foot, by bike, or by scooter, it’s the perfect place for an outdoor stroll<\/strong>, a photo break, or simply to admire the sunset over the water.
